Ms Nosipho Siwisa-Damasane

Nosipho Siwisa-Damasane was born in Peddie in the Eastern Cape

She grew up and studied in the Eastern Cape
She spent 10 years working for audit firms (Aitken and Peat; now KPMG and Ernst and Young) where she finished her articles in Auditing;
She then joined Transnet in 1998 as East London Port Manager as the first woman in this role.
At Transnet Port Terminals, she has held the following positions:-

  • In 2002 appointed as General Manager for Port Operations in Port Elizabeth and East London.
  • In 2004 – General Manager – Supply Chain
  • In 2006 - General Manager – Sales , Logistics and Commercial
  • In 2009 – Chief Operating Officer

Currently Siwisa-Damasane is the Chief Executive Officer for Richards Bay Coal Terminal, the single largest export coal terminal in the world with a design capacity of 91 million tons per annum. She was appointed to this position in July 2012.

She has represented South Africa on international missions on investment promotion and has written and delivered papers on port management and logistics presented in South Africa, the region and internationally at conferences on port related matters, especially on infrastructure development in Africa.

For the Eastern Cape; She has been instrumental in:-

  • The commercialisation of the Port of Ngqura in Port Elizabeth.
  • The development of the state of the art terminal in East London
  • The connectivity investment proposals for the Eastern Cape and Gauteng
  • Infrastructure development for the Auto sector supply chain and terminals
  • The corridor concept for the Saldanha-Sishen Iron Ore and the Port Elizabeth Manganese Ore supply chain

She has studied locally and abroad earlier in Accounting and later in the field of port operations, port management in Logistics, in Singapore, Antwerp, and Rotterdam and recently in London.
She is passionate about logistics and the development of women in this industry, and philanthropy in a small scale in rural development.
