Major General Ntsiki Memela-Motumi

Major General Memela-Motumi is a social worker who has served in the military for over 30 years. She has been deployed in various capacities and has amongst others addressed issues of soldiers' resilience as part of mission readiness, the welfare need of military veterans and also initiated empowerment programmes for soldiers' wives. Her areas of research interests have been HIV, Gender-Based Violence, Impact of Transformation in the Military, and the value added in the deployment of Female Peacekeepers. She is the author of the book, Spear of hope – Affirmative action, transformation and reconciliation in the new SANDF, and has also published various articles in professional journals and magazines. She currently serves as the Deputy Chief of Human Resources in the SANDF.
